To honor B.B. King’s 100th birthday, Joe Bonamassa has produced a landmark tribute album, Blues Summit 100, bringing together dozens of legendary artists across genres. The project took nine months to craft, with Bonamassa himself playing guitar on every track and ensuring the emotional authenticity of King’s legacy.
The lineup is stellar: Slash & Myles Kennedy, Paul Rodgers, Eric Clapton, Chaka Khan, Michael McDonald, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jimmie Vaughan, Warren Haynes, and more. Each artist was paired with material that resonated personally, resulting in fresh and sometimes surprising interpretations of King’s catalog.
Highlights include Slash & Myles Kennedy’s fiery take on “When Love Comes to Town”, Paul Rodgers’ soulful “Night Life”, and Pat Monahan (Train) with Chris Buck on “Think It Over.” Kenny Wayne Shepherd even shared a touching story of receiving life advice from King on his 16th birthday, underscoring the personal impact behind the music.
Ahead of the full release, Bonamassa has already issued four EPs featuring 21 tracks from the sessions, giving fans an early taste of this historic celebration.
