Originally released in 1983 as the major‑label debut of the Eric Martin Band (formerly 415), Sucker For A Pretty Face has been given the full Rock Candy “Remastered & Reloaded” treatment, complete with 5 bonus tracks and a noticeably improved sound.
Before becoming the voice of Mr. Big, Eric Martin was a rising singer with a golden, raspy tone and a relentless work ethic. His band built a huge local following in the Bay Area, selling out clubs like the Old Waldorf and opening for major acts including Billy Squier, Hall & Oates, Rick Springfield, Molly Hatchet, and Foreigner. Their success led to a deal with Elektra/Asylum under the same management team behind Journey, who rebranded the group as the Eric Martin Band.
Produced by Kevin Elson (Journey) and Rodney Mills (.38 Special), the album delivers a sharp set of melodic rockers such as Ten Feet Tall, Don’t Stop, and the anthemic title track. The LP went gold and earned the band TV appearances and arena tours with ZZ Top, Night Ranger, and Journey.
This Rock Candy edition adds the studio cut Stop in the Name of Love plus four strong live tracks from the band’s acclaimed 1983 Hawaii show. Despite their momentum, EMB split in 1984, paving the way for Eric’s solo career and eventually his breakthrough with Mr. Big.
